In December 2011, I was invited to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. This was a very big deal. I grew up on Disney, but my family could never afford to visit Walt Disney World. As much as I enjoyed Disney movies and TV shows, their theme parks commanded my full attention every time.
During my very first visit that December, and now inside the Magic Kingdom, I was pretty overwhelmed in the best way. After over 30 years of dreaming about this very place, I was finally experiencing it. It’s impossible to describe how it felt, but it was life changing.
My December 2011 photo before getting in line.
At the time, I had zero clue how much this ride would change my future.
The Carousel of Progress is an iconic attraction with a lot of various Disney meaning. It was the most memorable for me. Sure, there were many great memories from that day, but I connected very deeply with this entire attraction. Like before, it’s impossible to describe, but it was very, very real.
Inspired by the Carousel of Progress, I created the Carousel of Imagination in 2012. It was just a fun blog to share my drawings, models and dreams. Since I never finished sharing all of it, there’s no time like the present.
So once again, welcome aboard and please enjoy your ride.
